Date Of Birth: December 15, 1926
Date Of Death: November 14, 2012

Leslie Moko’’s soul left his body on November 14, 2012. For the last 18 months, he had been cared for at home by his loving wife, Maria. He died peacefully in St. Vincent’’s in-patient hospice unit.

Leslie would have been 86 on December 15th. He was born in 1926 in Komjati, Hungary to Istvan and Juliana Maksa Moko. He had 3 brothers, all who preceded him in death.

He survived 4 years in a Soviet Union Labor Camp when all the able bodied males were gathered throughout Europe during WW II. He was discharged due to serious illness and was hospitalized for a year during which time he recuperated and was able to able to return to his family.

He graduated from Miskolc University with a degree in Engineering in 1954. He married Maria Rehak in 1955 and in 1956 he was caught up in the Hungarian Revolution during which time he and Maria had to flee their homeland leaving all their family behind.

They relocated to Pennsylvania and then a short while later moved to Indianapolis, Indiana where he and Maria secured work and began to build their life in America.

He worked as a Civil Engineer for 30 years and was proud of his designs which included bridges and interstates within Indiana. He retired in 1988 and then began his second career devoted to working in his garden and cooking for his wife. He and Maria traveled extensively as they enjoyed one another’’s company. Leslie was a very faithful parishioner at St. Monica Catholic Church where he attended mass for over 50 years.

He was a proud and wonderful father of daughters Clara (Joseph) Moko Hamm (Chicago, IL) and Sylvia (Brian) Moko Mathiasen (Denmark). He had 3 grandchildren Emili and Louisa Mathiasen and Maxwell Thomas Hamm. Leslie and Maria celebrated their 57th Wedding Anniversary on October 15th.
